THE SCHOOL COMPETITION ON DEVELOPMENT POLICY

The School Competition on Development Policy “alle für EINE WELT für alle” (All for ONE WORLD for all) was launched in 2003 by then Federal President Johannes Rau and has been held every two years since by Engagement Global gGmbH – Service für Entwicklungsinitiativen on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, under the auspices of the German Federal President.

The Song Contest "Dein Song für EINE WELT!" (Your song for ONE WORLD) was first held to accompany the School Competition on Development Policy in 2015.

Further information on the School Competition on Development Policy can be found on the website www.eineweltfueralle.de

The purpose of the School Competition on Development Policy is to support the academic area of global development in the curriculum of all age groups and to activate and raise awareness amongst children and young adults to the themes of our ONE WORLD.

To this end, the competition invites a discussion on topics of global development every two years.

Pupils of all age groups and school types across Germany and at German schools abroad can take part.

Competition entries can be submitted in any conceivable form; whether text, photos, films, artworks, theatrical or musical works, posters or digital contributions – all ideas on the academic area of global development count!

Prizes with a total value of over EUR 50,000 can be won by classes, school teams, work groups etc. Schools successful in competing for the school prize will receive cash prizes worth EUR 25,000. Four contributions furthermore will receive a special award by non-governmental organisations under the “Bearer of Hope” banner. Each participant will receive a personal certificate. Delegations of winner entries furthermore will be invited to the awards ceremony in Berlin to receive their prizes in person.

Entries will be assessed by a specialist panel in a two-stage process guided by fixed criteria. A preliminary panel of several persons will first convene to view all competition entries and to select the best contributions. This selection will then be presented to an independent main panel at the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, which will award the main prizes.

The ninth round of the competition will start at the beginning of the school year 2019/2020 and will have the motto "Meine, deine, unsere Zukunft?!" Lokales Handeln – globales Mitbestimmen. The closing date for entries is 2 March 2020! Until then, contributions on the topic of the ninth round can be submitted. In June 2020, the prizewinners' entries will receive a festive award in Berlin.
